Encouraging Intimacy, Uniting the Church, Empowering for MissionThe Day after the big day is here.....a message from Bishop Tindimwebwa of TOM Uganda
See All Words For The WeekThe Day After the Day He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:2
For children, the most anticipated day of the year is actually a night: the night before Christmas. For parents, the most anticipated day is on the opposite side of the Big Day: the day after Christmas. The wrappings and boxes have (hopefully) been bound and stacked in the recycle bin. The children are (hopefully) entertaining themselves with their new toys. And there are (hopefully) enough leftovers to feed the troops for the next few meals. It's a day for Mom and Dad to rest, relax, and regain their perspective on the holiest day of the year. Let's face it: Christmas can be exhausting. But that's okay--it's a birthday celebration that requires some preparation and participation. But too often, the preparation can overshadow the Prince of Peace; the schedule can exclude the Savior. We can find ourselves on the day after Christmas having missed the reason for the season.
But it's not too late! Take a moment on this day-after to reflect on the gift of God to you: His very own Son. While others are occupied with their gifts, occupy yourself with the greatest Gift of all. Rest in the grace that has come down from heaven.
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.
Love to you all.
